NOVA Council Navy League Privacy and Internet Policy
NOVA Council respects the privacy of its
members and other visitors to its web site. NOVA Council strongly
believes that if electronic commerce and online activities are to
flourish, members must be assured that information provided online is
used responsibly and appropriately. To protect online privacy, NOVA

Information Collection and Use
Information collected on NOVA
Council's web site from NOVA Council visitors is done to fulfill
requests inclusive of, but not limited to, facilitating communications
between members through the online community, and registering for NOVA
Council's meetings and other events.
NOVA Council will not sell, share, or
rent this information to others in ways other than those disclosed in
NOVA Council does not collect any
personal information from users browsing its public web site except that
which is provided by the user via online forms, such as meeting
reservations. Users of the public areas of NOVA Council's web site
browse anonymously. Only aggregate data -- such as the number of hits
per page -- are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal
information and do not provide any personally identifying information.
NOVA Council members who change
or provide their e-mail address to NOVA Council may receive periodic
e-mails describing the legislative, public affairs, meetings and
convention, membership, dues notices, development updates or other
activities of the Navy League, and NOVA Council in particular.
Upon receipt of the e-mail newsletters, the user may decide to opt-out
of the e-mail distribution list by following the instructions at the
bottom of the e-mail message. In addition, as a member, you may opt out
at anytime by updating your preferences within the Navy League

NOVA Council web site users who are
not NOVA Council members may be asked to fill in NOVA Council's guest
book to access certain restricted areas of the site. NOVA Council web
site users may also fill in the guest book voluntarily and independent
of gaining access to restricted areas of the site. Persons who submit a
guest book entry may be solicited for NOVA Council membership.
Occasionally, NOVA Council may conduct
a survey. Participation is completely voluntary and the user therefore
has a choice whether or not to disclose such information as user contact
and demographic information. Information collected may be used to
contact participants for solicitation purposes such as sending a request
to join NOVA Council.
"Cookies" are pieces of information
that a web site transfers to an individual's hard drive for

At the time of signing in as a member
or a guest, NOVA Council sets a cookie on your machine. This information
simply identifies you as a member or guest. The cookie facilitates you
gaining access to protected areas of the site, pre-populates information
on certain forms to save your from re-keying your information, and

after which without activity, the cookie expires and you must identify
